Handcycles are hand-powered tricycles, that can be ridden by people, who lost function of their lower limbs. These are mostly riders with traumatic spinal cord injury or leg amputations. However, people have a false belief that a strong upper body is a must to be able to ride these bikes. In fact, there are some modifications that can be made to adapt the handcycle to specific needs of the rider. Our handcycles can be altered by choosing different gear systems, but also by adding electric motor assist. Skorpion racing handcycle and XCR cross-country handcycle can also be adapted for quadriplegics, people with higher spinal cord injury and limited function of arms and hands. This is accomplished by a quadriplegic setup, which includes special quad handles made of carbon, elbow brake, and elbow shifter. In this setup we also recommend to choose Schlumpf Mountain Drive or electric assist, which are not mandatory, but can be very helpful to quadriplegics. Here is a video depicting the quad grips:

Between the different handcycles we offer and the available adjustments I am sure everyone can find something for themselves.
